(Sligo Mayo Initiative for LGBT Youth)

SMILY are now meeting in Sligo and Mayo on a monthly basis. Meetings are held indoors in a safe and secure community building. SMILY is a fun and active place to meet other like minded people. It is a great place to come along to and express yourself in a non- judgemental environment. Activities include team building and other fun stuff to keep you entertained!

Next Meeting is in Ballina, Co. Mayo between 3pm-5pm.

Claudia & the Ladies

Claudia Shifter

Sligo’s own Claudia Shifter is an “all singing, interpretive dancing” sensation. At 6’6″ (in heels) she can appear intimidating but is actually very friendly and most likely to wink at you and say “howaya!”. She performs regularly on the Drag and Caberet Circuit. Her previous performances include Dignity Bar (Galway and Waterford), Wildes (Galway), Miss Honey’s Speakeasy, The Countess Caberet, Northwest Pride 2010 (Sligo) and Rainbow Club (Letterkenny). She lives in Sligo with her pet fish Wanda.

Lounge Lizards

Dicky and Cissie aka The Lounge Lizards are making their return visit to North West Pride as part of saturday night celebrations.This fun duo are” as intimate and fresh as their underwear,these raucous reptiles will make you laugh ,sing and dance with their renditions of easy listening classics” Dan Wims Q Magazine May 2011.

DJ Proud Mary

Mary started DJ-ing in Cork 5 years ago. She plays an elective mix for her crowd and claims she creates her playlist on the night. She has recently opened up Dyke Night at Dublin Pride 2011, played at the LCup 2011 in Sligo and at the Cork Women’s Fun Weekend. When you are attending the Northwest Pride Festival this year, why not take advantage of being at the heart of everything over the weekend by staying in the Clarion Village Apartments. As well as providing excellent self-catering accommodation Clarion Village is also the main meeting place for buses and transport to and from may events happening over Pride!

Mr & Ms Gay Ireland

During Northwest LGBT Pride 2010 we held the very first ever heat of Ms Gay Leitrim which was a huge success with Martina Walker winning this prestigious title. There was much fun and great times had on the night. This year’s Ms Gay Ireland final will be held in Limerick after Ms Gay Limerick, Tasha Clyde won the final last year.

This year we’re hosting Mr Gay Leitrim heat as well as the coveted Ms Gay Leitrim all on the same night! What we need from you dear reader are contestants. The winner of Mr Gay Leitrim will go on to represent Leitrim in the Mr Gay Ireland competition while the winner of Ms Gay Leitrim will go on to represent Leitrim in – you guessed it! – Ms Gay Ireland. Mr Gay Ireland is a great experience. You will meet and make friends from all over the island. You will learn a lot and enjoy the experience immensely. Your confidence will grow, your self esteem will be enhanced, your knowledge of gay rights will be informed and you will get the opportunity to promote your local community and make a real difference to the HIV patients of the New Fill Project in St James’s Hospital Dublin.

With Mr Gay Ireland the contestant raises money for St. James’s Hospital, while with Ms Gay Ireland the contestant raises money and it is split between LGBT Diversity National Trust and the winner’s chosen charity.
